**Chapter Lead Financial Accounting | Sydney NSW (preferred)**

Reporting to the Chief Chapter and Change Lead, the primary purpose of this role is to be responsible for people leadership and development of Chapter members, to build capability in the Chapter to deliver value in the Finance division, to be accountable for functional expertise and to leverage expertise to develop and maintain methodologies, standards, quality and tools relating to the area of expertise.

**You'll be responsible for**:

- Lead the establishment and growth of the chapter and its members to ensure they have a sense of purpose and are continually developing and building on skills.
- Be responsible for the systematic development of chapter members’ skills and competencies based on the role, ensuring they have the capabilities to deliver within their squads.
- Provide coaching for all career related topics e.g., assessments, targets, promotions, career moves, training needs in relation to professional development of chapter members.
- Lead the performance assessment of chapter members in conjunction with Product Owners, Agile Leaders and Agile Coach as appropriate.
- Share knowledge and align development across the Chapter members.
- Develop and maintain unified approach, best practice and methodologies for area of expertise.
- Develop an understanding of trends and future issues and share with Human Resources development team to ensure that skills meet the demands of the future.
- Proactively foster active communication and knowledge sharing across AAL to build a learning organisation.
- Participate in synchronisation meetings with Agile Leaders and Product Owners to guide definition of strategies and priorities.
- Work collaboratively with Agile Leaders by providing inputs on allocation and staffing of chapter members across squads.
- Be actively involved in initiatives relative to area of expertise.
- Drive technical excellence across the chapter and into the respective squads in relation to Financial Accounting with a specific focus on external reporting capabilities.

**Important to your success**:

- Significant experience in a financial control environment, for a complex, matrixed general insurance / financial services organisation.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with relevant certification.
- Comprehensive understanding of organisational financial frameworks and experience in managing financial management processes, resources, and systems, providing advice to improve financial performance and achieve strategic objectives.
- Proven ability to lead a team of experts to deliver iteratively on the chapters mission.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and empower people to develop individual and team potential
- Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands to deliver objectives
- Highly developed consulting skills and influencing skills, demonstrating the ability to co-create strategy
- Proven analytical and critical thinking capability to interpret a range of data, identify patterns, trends and links that inform judgements and solutions.
- Highly developed 'first principles' problem-solving skills, combined with a curious and creative mind-set.
- Demonstrate an Agile mindset and knowledge of Agile methodologies and concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to articulate and influence key stakeholders and decision makers.
