This is an exciting time in the energy industry with the transition to renewable energy. Recent government policy documents outline plans to facilitate increasing transmission interconnection between states and development of renewable energy zones.
**The Opportunity**
The Supply and Demand Planner will collaborate with internal business customers to understand medium to long term business requirements and develops longer term procurement category and sourcing strategy options by analysing markets, building market intelligence, developing, and implementing action plans and best practice supply base management practices to realise objectives.
This role focuses on a program level, consolidating requirements across current projects and BAU requirements in addition to forecast/planned major projects including non-regulated business opportunities, particularly in the connection of new renewable generators and large demand customers, and forecast regulated projects.
This role will actively lead the consolidation of long lead and high value item requirements, developing strategic relationships and plans to deliver these as required to meet the business future goals.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Proactively collaborate with internal business customers to understand medium to long term business requirements and develop longer term procurement category and sourcing strategy options by analysing markets, building market intelligence, developing, and implementing action plans and best practice supply base management practices to realise objectives.
- Focus on a program level, consolidating requirements across current projects and BAU requirements in addition to forecast/planned major projects including non-regulated business opportunities, particularly in the connection of new renewable generators and large demand customers, and forecast regulated projects.
- Actively lead the consolidation of long lead and high value item requirements, developing strategic relationships and plans to deliver these as required to meet the business future goals.
- Use a segmented forecast approach across different channels using statistical forecasting and pipeline management
- Work with market models to develop forward indicators to provide content for supply forecasts, and sense check market based forecasts to identify anomalies or exceptions
- Identify and model impacts of alternative demand scenarios to test business unit demand sensitivities
- Drive reduction in forecast error and eliminate forecast bias
- Review actual performance to plans to identify abnormal demand. Work with BAU managers and major project managers to mitigate customer impacts of demand or supply events.
- Provide insights and recommendations in relation to trends and anomalies
- Contribute to business growth and strategy by identifying areas of improvement and recommending process and forecasting solutions
**Position Requirements**
- Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or similar discipline.
- 3 years+ experience in the Demand planning discipline in Tier 1 or 2 companies
- Excellent analytical skills and strong command of analytical methodologies coupled with an understanding of market research
- Demonstrated experience in time series demand and replenishment forecasting
- Numerate and systems literate with the ability to manage large amounts of data analysis. Strong statistical skills (standard deviation, normal distribution, average)
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge and experience with contemporary procurement and contract management systems, for example SAP, ARIBA, Ellipse, Pegasus, Oracle P6, inEight, Ansarada, Zycus / Jaegger tools
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver effective presentations at a senior executive level.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, to enable interaction with staff at all levels
- Proven planning, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work through issues with moderate complexity and guide and/or coach others in the resolution of problem
