The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

The Salvation Army Graceville Women’s Centre provides short term crisis accommodation for women with or without children who are escaping Family & Domestic Violence and/or homelessness. The Service also provides medium term, supported transitional housing, counselling and an outreach service.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Sleepover Support Worker to provide support to resident clients in the event of an emergency during an inactive period from 10pm to 6am. Other key responsibilities include:

- Assist with the provision of short/medium term crisis accommodation
- Admit clients who are homeless as a result of family & domestic violence and/or crisis in emergency situations between 10pm-6am
- Helps to maintain a clean and welcoming environment during active duty
- Is available to respond to emergency situations during the inactive period

Reporting to the refuge team leader this position is located at our Graceville Centre. The facility operates 24/7 on a rotating roster and provides assistance to approximately 230 women & children per annum.

This Sleepover Support Worker position is a sole position during inactive period and during active periods will work within a team of Case Workers, Child Advocate and Chaplain.

HOURS AND SALARY

This casual position will work an active period from 8pm to 10pm, an inactive period from 10pm to 6am, and an active period again from 6am - 8am.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE
- Tertiary qualification in Social & Community Services or related field, a degree qualification is preferred.
- Relevant experience with Family & Domestic Violence and homelessness
- Knowledge of Family & Domestic Violence, applies FDV models/practices, educates/promotes awareness of FDV to residents
- Knowledge of the physical, emotional, psychological and behavioural impact of trauma and abuse
- A current WA Drivers Licence
- Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
