Established in 1995, Dans Plants has grown to become one of the largest wholesale nurseries in Australia. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Horticulture Grower to join our team.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and coordinate the production of plant stock, taking into account environmental factors and market demands, and adjusting schedules based on these factors
- Identify and select appropriate seeds, tissue culture plant stock for cultivation
- Develop comprehensive strategies for cultivating, fertilizing and watering to maintain optimal production and growing conditions
- Organise and supervise daily greenhouse operations, including potting, spacing, grading and dispatching of stock through to the Greenhouse Packing Team
- Implement and maintain biosecurity measures to ensure plant health and control pests and weeds effectively
- Oversee and liaise with the maintenance team regarding infrastructure including greenhouse equipment, machinery, water supply systems and irrigation systems
- Advise management on the production and planning of future stock, taking into account market trends and customer demands
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of greenhouse stock activities
- Utilise Dans Plants machinery to streamline operations and maximise productivity
- Provide guidance, support, training and supervision to employees in the Main Greenhouse
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture (or minimum 5 years’ experience as a Horticulture Grower in a large nursery setting)
- Proven experience in a large nursery environment
- Strong understanding of market trends and environmental factors affecting nursery production
- Proficient in using nursery technology and data analysis tools
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong knowledge of biosecurity measures and pest management strategies
**Salary**: From $115,000.00 per year
