Estrella Preschool, set within the leafy surrounds of Watson Park in Ashburton, provides high-quality, government funded 3- and 4-year-old sessional kindergarten curriculums. For over seventy years Estrella has nurtured children through their early educational journey. We are proudly an inclusive community run kindergarten, supported by a dedicated community of volunteers and staff, working together to provide the best outcomes for our children and families. **Description**
- Delivering the ECLP in line with the VEYLDF.
- Developing and sourcing age-appropriate language resources, games, experiences, and play-based activities.
- Embedding the ECLP across the entire state-funded four-year-old kindergarten program (where the kindergarten is funded to do so).
- Undertaking the Language Proficiency Assessment arranged by the Department at the beginning of their employment to demonstrate appropriate language skills.
- Completing the online Early Childhood Language Teaching Methodology course. This course is mandatory for all new language teachers and must be completed within their first two terms of starting.
- Regularly co-planning with the early childhood teacher, Educational Leader and other educators involved in delivering the ECLP.
- Engaging with relevant professional learning offered by the Department.
The successful applicant will:
- Prioritise and proactively foster wellbeing and collegiality with children, families, and colleagues.
- Be an enthusiastic contributor and use your initiative to support the curriculum and community values
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively within a team of educators and teachers, supporting your colleagues and team leader.
- Have good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with teachers and educators, children and families.
The ECLP teacher/educator work with other staff to:
- Embed a family centred approach to ensuring the best outcomes for children.
- Provide inclusive, culturally appropriate, and antibias curriculum and care for kindergarten aged children.
- Implement routines that respect children's agency, encourage independence, and foster individuality.
- Incorporate Nature Play into the ECLP and support our sustainable living principles and practices, including learning about conservation.
- Role model best practice and show enthusiastic commitment to continuous quality
- Maintain ongoing documentation of curriculum and children’s learning and development records, including observations and other data, assessments, planning and reflection.
Additional notes and considerations:
- Previous experience teaching a language other than English is preferred.
- Experience working in an Early Childhood Education & Care service is preferred.

Minimum Qualification: ACECQA Approved Children's Service Diploma (Qualified Educator) Preferred Qualification: ACECQA Approved Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies (or equivalent with VIT registration)
