**What’s the opportunity?**

As a Trade Assistant, you'll be responsible for assisting in the installation and maintenance of the Vocus Fibre network. As part of the connections process, you will be involved in fibre jointing, copper installations, infrastructure upgrades and fault restorations. This entry level role will provide to the right person the opportunity to grow, learn & develop skills within the telecommunication industry.

**What’s the day to day?**
- Optical Cable Splicing and Hauling
- Optical fibre network maintenance
- Pit and pipe installations
- Building entries
- Fault restoration
- Take part in the on-call roster for afterhours fault restoration
- Other Ad-hoc duties as required
- Customer Management
- Installation and Maintenance of Customer Enclosures & associated cabling
- Ensure customer connection are completed within required time frames
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
- Liaise with Management on issues
- Ensure a safe working environment is maintained including wearing appropriate PPE and maintenance of PPE
- Ensure Human Resources is notified of any accidents and/ or possible incidents as soon as practically possible
- Follow and comply with all Occupational Safety and Health and Environment policies and procedures to ensure personal safety and the safety of others is maintained at all times, including the reporting of unsafe practices or hazards as required
- Proactively identify possible improvements processes
- Involvement in implementation of improved systems and processes
- Ensure regular updates are supplied to Team Leaders and Management
- Comply with all risk management initiatives throughout the business and report any risks

**What we need from you**:

- You have the full rights to work in Australia. You're an Australian citizen or a Permanent Resident
- You have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong cabling experience
- Optical Fibre splicing qualifications (Desired)
- Structured Cabling qualifications (Desired)
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- High level of customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Ability to train and supervise other staff
- Intermediate Computer Skills
- Current C Class Drivers Licence
- White Card (Construction Training)
