**Description**:
What is the role?
Reporting to the HR Manager, the role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs designed to reduce the risk to safety and the environmental impact of the company, through driving initiatives to ensure safety and environmental targets are identified and met.
What will you do?
Health & Safety Responsibility
**Workplace Safety**: Implement measures to prevent accidents and injuries, such as proper training, safety equipment, and hazard assessments.
**Develop and Implement Policies**: Design, implement, and review policies and procedures in line with the Company’s goals and to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
**Conduct Risk Assessments**: To identify and mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
**Training and Education**: Provide training and awareness programs for employees, ensuring they are equipped with knowledge and skills to adhere to safety protocols.
**Incident Investigation**: Investigate workplace incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
**Safety Audits & Inspections**: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities and equipment.
**Emergency Plans**: Maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios (e.g., fire, chemical spill, natural disasters) whilst managing the Company’s hazardous materials.
Environmental Responsibility
**Environmental Management**: Monitor and manage environmental impacts, including waste management, resource use, and pollution control. Develop and oversee implementation of sustainability reporting.
**Environmental Regulations**: Adhere to environmental laws and regulations related to emissions, waste management, and pollution control.
**Reporting**: Maintain accurate records and report environmental performance and incidents as required by regulations.
**Certifications**: Assist in maintaining certifications e.g. COSMOS, ISO 14001 and RSPO.
**Continuous Improvement**: Regularly review audits and update policies and procedures to improve HSE performance following CAPA’s.
**Skills and Experiences**:
About you.
**Qualifications**: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, or related field.
**Experience**: 3 years of experience in a similar role.
**Knowledge**: Understanding of HSE regulations, safety standards, and environmental management practices, preferably ISO 14001 and APCO.
**Skills**: Excellent problem-solving, and organisational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
**Communication**: Strong written and verbal skills with a skill set to thoroughly investigate and analyse a range of situations and providing evaluation and advice on an appropriate course of action.
