We are seeking an experienced and professional Governance Officer who excels in high pressure environment and has exceptional customer service skills. A unique opportunity exists for a strategic and experienced Governance professional with an interest in delivering and driving a proactive compliance and governance framework across the organisation.

The position is part of a specialised, dynamic and high performing Governance Services Team.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Coordinating and maintaining the City’s Corporate Governance Framework to ensure organisational transparency, accountability and compliance with _Local Government Act 1995_ and statutory obligations.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of the City’s Policy Plan and ongoing review and development of procedures and undertake governance projects as required to support continuous improvement.
- Coordinating the delivery of the Local Governance Election.
- Managing the City’s corporate compliance, systems and controls to ensure statutory compliance.
- Providing advice and assistance in relation to the City’s statutory compliance registers in accordance with the _Local Government Act 1995_.
- Supporting the CoM administrative requirements to ensure Officers are able to enact their authorisations including ID photos, ID cards, certificates, record keeping and advertising in the Government Gazette, State and/or local publications.
- Providing high level support and communication to the Governance Services team and City of Mandurah ensuring the effective provision of service.
- Reporting to the Manager, Governance and Legal Services, responsible for the Council and Committee meeting governance requirements in accordance with _Local Government Act 1995_, regulations, and City procedures, including attendance to meetings, compiling agendas and minutes and maintaining registers.
- Providing minute officer support for Council and Committee meetings.

**To be successful you will have**:

- Certificate IV in Business, Governance or Law, or related discipline.
- Five years’ experience in governance or compliance related roles.
- Delivery of statutory local government requirements in the Governance context.
- Sound working knowledge and understanding of the _Local Government Act 1995_ and its subsidiary regulations.
- Excellent organisational, time management and administrative skills, with a proven ability to effectively prioritise tasks to meet strict deadlines.
- Experience in minute taking in a local government setting.
- Capacity to work autonomously and independently with high work ethics.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive material/issues with tact and strict confidentiality.
- Ability to identify solutions and present options based to reduce risk.
- An understanding of contemporary corporate and/or local government meeting procedures and practices.
- Have the ability to meet strict deadlines whilst managing competing priorities and delivering a high-quality product.
