The STEM College holds a leading position and expertise in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and health (STEM) fields. We are uniquely positioned to influence and partner with industry, as never before.

STEM College employs 1,000 staff who deliver onshore and offshore programs to approximately 20,000 students.

About the role

The role is new to the College and is a result of continuing growth and a desire to have increased leadership and strategy in our Academic endeavour. The Associate DVC is a senior leader within the College and a member of the STEM executive team. The position is primarily responsible for the provision of academic leadership within the College, strategic planning for academic activities and for the overall operational management of academic governance, integrity, planning, and quality management.

In addition, the incumbent plays a key role in building a culture of high-performance, engagement, accountability and commitment, and leading values-based decision making.

This position can expect to deputise for the DVC at regular intervals throughout the year, as required.

To be successful in this position you will ideally have:
- Significant experience contributing to setting academic strategic direction (particularly in the education and student experience) and undertaking planning, providing expert advice, and leadership in academic governance, staffing and resource management.- Track record in developing, implementing and monitoring innovative initiatives that drive strong performance outcomes.- Strong skills in collegial leadership to facilitate and coordinate with the Deans and other College Executive on Academic matters, initiatives and programs.- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster strong relationships, work collaboratively, and act as the College academic liaison on college and cross-institutional initiatives, projects and committees.- Demonstrated exemplary personal qualities of integrity, energy, tenacity and sound judgement.- An outstanding academic track record in a relevant discipline with significant experience indicated by an appropriately strong record of research, external competitive research funding and publications.- Proven excellence in teaching and the creation of a top quality, holistic student experience.- Exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, motivate staff and develop a culture of high performance, accountability and engagement aligned with values.
