**Summary**
The Supervisor plays a vital role in the daily operations of Snowflake Laundry and Linen Services. Responsible for managing production floor activities, this role ensures efficient workflow across key sections of the laundry facility. The Supervisor oversees team productivity, upholds quality and service standards, and promotes compliance with health and safety protocols. This position requires a practical, hands-on leader who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and can effectively balance operational demands with team coordination and performance outcomes.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Operational Coordination**
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day running of laundry operations, including sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and packing of linens and garments across all shifts.
- Allocate tasks, assign duties, and adjust team rosters to ensure workstations are adequately staffed and production targets are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Monitor equipment usage and promptly report any maintenance issues to minimise downtime.
- Ensure all laundry processes comply with company procedures, health and safety standards, and relevant industry regulations.
- Respond to operational disruptions as they arise, implementing timely solutions to maintain workflow and productivity.
- Monitor stock levels of detergents, chemicals, and other essential supplies; coordinate timely replenishment to prevent shortages.
- Collaborate with management to review operational needs, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise performance.
- Maintain accurate production and shift records, including output data, delays, equipment issues, and incident reports.
- Participate in onboarding and ongoing training of staff to ensure operational consistency and adherence to company standards.
**Team Leadership & Performance**
- Lead and support a team of laundry assistants and operators, including both permanent and casual staff.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to team members to develop skills and encourage productivity.
- Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, respect, and safe working practices.
- Conduct toolbox talks, shift briefings, and team check-ins to communicate expectations and updates.
- Track staff performance and flag issues or outstanding efforts with the Production Manager.
**Quality Control & Customer Focus**
- Maintain high standards of linen cleanliness, finishing, and presentation, ensuring all items are cleaned, pressed, folded, and packaged to meet client expectations.
- Conduct regular quality control checks throughout the workflow to verify that jobs align with customer specifications and delivery schedules.
- Assist in addressing customer concerns or complaints at the operational level, ensuring timely resolution and continuous service improvement.
- Oversee the condition and performance of laundry equipment, promptly reporting any faults or issues to the maintenance team to prevent service delays.
- Support the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, turnaround time, and client satisfaction.
**Health, Safety & Emergency Readiness**
- Enforce strict adherence to OH&S policies, including correct PPE use and safe machine handling.
- Identify and report hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately.
- Ensure the team is aware of emergency procedures, including fire, equipment failure, and injury protocols.
- Conduct or support safety drills and first aid training sessions.
**Inventory & Supply Monitoring**
- Monitor use of consumables such as detergents, cleaning agents, and packaging materials.
- Notify management of any shortages, stock issues, or supply needs in a timely manner.
- Ensure storerooms are kept organised and compliant with hygiene and safety guidelines.
**Reporting & Communication**
- Maintain accurate shift records including production output, issues, delays, and incident reports.
- Provide regular updates to the Production Manager or General Manager.
- Relay instructions from management to team members clearly and professionally, and escalate staff concerns when needed.
**Qualifications & Requirements**
- Previous experience as a team leader, supervisor, or coordinator in a commercial laundry, hospitality, or production setting.
- Strong understanding of laundry operations, machinery, and safety procedures.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate others.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Familiarity with OH&S regulations and emergency response protocols.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete digital reports or timesheets.
- Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or related qualifications (desirable).
- First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
