A Step As One Disability Services is seeking a youth disability support worker who has experience supporting young people with complex disability and behaviours. Step As One Disability Services has two NDIS participants requiring support aged 11 years, who have an intellectual disability/Autism Spectrum Disorder. One participant also has pathalogical demand avoidance as well as behaviours of concern.

Currently there is a vacant shift with one participant on Fridays from 10am-1pm, some Mondays 10am-1pm and additional shifts on occasion. The second client is flexible with shifts, usually 3 hours in duration (after schools and/or weekends).

**Support Worker Position Description **(but not limited to):

- Support NDIS participant to engage in activities/ tasks including capacity building, in home support and community access within the City of Casey area
- Support NDIS participants to access the community
- Work in accordance with Step As One Disability Services' medication administration policy, work health and safety procedures and participant right's policies including privacy and confidentiality.
- Monitor the safety and well-being of the participant
- Ensure completion of appropriate documentation such as participant progress notes & incident reports using the Client Management System.
- Work with directly with participant, family, relevant stakeholders and other professionals to support the participants NDIS goals and individual SMART goals.
- Undertake relevant participant specific and mandatory training modules as required to maintain NDIS practice competency requirements.
- Take reasonable care for his or her own health and safety.
- Carry out their roles and responsibilities as detailed in the relevant policies and processes.

**Qualifications - preferred**
- Cert IV Child Protection, Mental Health, Disability, Community Services or similar or relevant tertiary qualifications
- Current NDISWC
- Working with Children Check.
- First Aid certificate and CPR
- NDIS Workers Orientation (or willing to complete)
- Current Drivers license and fully comprehensive insurance

**Competencies and experience**
- Experience working with children, young people or adults who present with complex disability who display behaviours of concern including aggression and violence (mandatory)
- Genuine passion for the field of work (mandatory)
- Clear, fluent written and verbal English language skills (mandatory)
- Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal supervision (mandatory)
- Strong engagement, enthusiasm, resilience and self care(mandatory)
- Understanding of Behaviour Support implementation and restrictive practice (mandatory)

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $40.00 - $44.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 - 10 per week
