**Role**:
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.

Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.

Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.

Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.

Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

**Responsibilities**:
**Vocational Major Program Manager
- Position Description**

The Leading Teaching
- Vocational Major Program Manager is responsible for coordinating the activities, programs and students within the VCE Vocational Major. This role sits withing the Senior School leadership team comprising the Head of Senior School, Year Level Coordinators and the Senior School Assistant Principal.

**Key Responsibilities**

**1. Curriculum and Program Development**
- Lead the development and refinement of VM programs in collaboration with teachers of Literacy, Numeracy, Personal Development Skills (PDS), and Work-Related Skills (WRS).
- Ensure alignment with VCAA guidelines and Senior Secondary Pathway reforms.
- Work with the VASS Coordinator to ensure compliance on all data requirements of the VCE-VM.
- Teach in the VCE-VM program.
- Liaise with the Teaching and Learning team to ensure a coherent overall College strategy to student learning.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of applied learning programs, making necessary adjustments to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Work with other College leaders to develop course advice handbooks for students and to be involved in the course counselling process.

**2. Professional Learning (PL)**
- Facilitate PL activities focusing on applied learning practices and VCE Vocational Major delivery.
- Provide teachers with ongoing support and resources to strengthen their applied learning pedagogy.
- Work with external providers and industry partners to offer staff development in key areas of vocational education and applied learning.

**3. Coordination of Programs and Events**
- Manage internal and external programs and events related to VM, such as work placements, industry partnerships, excursions, and guest speakers.
- Work closely with the Careers team to facilitate enrolment of VCE-VM students in relevant vocational study pathways, including VET, Structured Workplace Learning and School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs).
