**Clinical Coder - Hobart Private Hospital**
- Permanent Full Time or Part Time - $41.61 to $43.01ph + Super + benefits

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Coder to join our Medical Records team on a permanent basis. Your primary function will be to deliver efficient and accurate coding for all patient discharges and assist in medical record management and related activities to ensure an industry leading customer service experience. A rare opportunity to join our Medical Records team, you play a vital role in supporting patient care, legal compliance, and administrative efficiency.

**As a clinical coder, your responsibilities will include**:

- Deliver exceptional coding service by accurately and efficiently assigning ICD-10-AM for patient discharges
- Provide exceptional customer service to the department by assisting with medical record management activities
- Ensure compliance with the National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards
- Engage in case mix analysis, education, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance overall performance.
- Contribute to clinical documentation improvement efforts to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Support the timely extraction and submission of mandatory data reports, ensuring compliance and precision.
- Ensure timely and accurate clinical coding to maintain high-quality data integrity.

**Essential Criteria**:

- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Health Information Management (or equivalent qualification).
- Eligible for membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia.
- Communication Skills: Effectively communicating with patients and healthcare staff.
- Data Entry and Computer Skills: Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other software.
- Confidentiality and Privacy: Understanding and adhering to privacy regulations.
- Minimum availability of 3 days per week (0.6FTE)

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Knowledge of private sector funding models in Australia
- Knowledge of WebPAS patient information system
