**About Us**

The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) is responsible for protecting the South Australian community from the effects of fire, road crashes, chemical incidents, and other emergencies. We are a team of approximately 1,300 operational personnel and corporate professionals serving the community across 20 metropolitan and 17 regional fire stations.

**About the Role**

The Corporate Communications Officer supports the MFS's corporate communications and media functions by delivering internal communications, and media relations through clear, consistent messaging.

Reporting to the Manager, Media and Corporate Communications, the position provides high-quality communications across internal channels, contributing to the MFS's goals by delivering information and engagement services, including public safety messaging during and after emergency incidents in support of incident management teams.

**As the Corporate Communications Officer, you will**:

- Support the delivery of internal communications campaigns and engagement activities, including promotional materials where appropriate.
- Assist with maintaining intranet content and coordinating staff communications channels.
- Contribute to communications projects, ensuring timelines, milestones, and deliverables are met to a high standard.
- Contribute to the development and use of processes and systems to measure and improve the effectiveness of communication efforts.
- Support media relations, including the delivery of quality operational public information and warnings during and after emergency incidents.
- Responding to media enquiries as required and participating in an on-call roster.
- Provide day-to-day support to the Media and Corporate Communications team, including maintaining databases, preparing reports, and coordinating communications activities.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, we're looking for someone who is:

- An excellent writer with strong attention to detail.
- Experienced in preparing media releases, briefs, articles, reports, publications and web content.
- Able to communicate concisely, clearly, effectively and accurately with a diverse range of people, both orally and in writing.
- Organised, proactive, and able to juggle multiple tasks.
- A team player with great interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn.
- Confident using Microsoft Office suite.
