**We are looking for**:
Byron Shire Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic team leader to manage staff undertaking maintenance works to ensure the teams achieve the scheduled works and services contained in the maintenance programs in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner.
Some specific tasks include:
- Manage, lead and motivate crews in the team towards achievement of pre agreed goals and positive participation in team activities.
- Develop and implement 3 week look ahead schedules.
- Plan and monitor work schedules in collaboration with the Operations Coordinator and Drainage and Flood Engineer.
- Ensure daily work activities of teams are achieved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Ensure the teams provide an appropriate level of customer service when dealing with the public, contractors, internal staff and other government departments.
- Ensure team members comply with all relevant legislation and council policies.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of workplace health and safety procedures and practices which protect and safeguard the health and safety of Council staff, the community and the environment.
- Assist the Operations Coordinator and Drainage and Flood Engineer to monitor and evaluate changing circumstances to enable continuous improvement in the provision of construction and maintenance services to allow the teams to become competitive and innovative.
- Check and authorise periodic attendance sheets and allocate and re-allocate tasks amongst staff under the position’s supervision.
- Provide a high level of customer service and ensure systems are in place to address public complaints in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure all relevant legislation is complied with, public risk is minimised and due diligence is exercised using a risk management approach to deliver road maintenance activities and to develop programs of work for capital projects.
- Remain up to date with legislative changes having an impact on the key responsibilities of the position.
- Provide timely, accurate, professional information to Council, staff and the community on drainage construction and maintenance matters.
- Monitor operations against key performance indicators and recommend service delivery improvements.
- Deliver infrastructure projects as directed.

- Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of $1,450.00 to $1,680.00 per week dependent (dependent upon skills and experience) working a 76-hour fortnight.

**Location**:
This position is based at the Byron Depot, delivery projects across the entire Byron Shire relevant to operational need.
