**About the role**

An exciting opportunity exists for a research assistant to join Extent Heritage's Brisbane office on a full-time basis. The position will primarily focus on heritage places, but we are always keen to discover professionals with flexibility and strengths across other specialist areas.

The core business of our heritage places team broadly includes heritage advice and assessment, architectural and building conservation, interpretation, photographic documentation, and cultural heritage management.

This position will suit a highly motivated individual with well-developed research, writing and analytical skills, who enjoys working in a close-knit, supportive team environment. An understanding of Queensland legislation will be highly regarded. This role would be ideal for a recent graduate with previous experience in report preparation in heritage related filed.

**About you**

**Essential skills and experience (Selection Criteria)**
- Experience in report preparation in heritage related field
- A bachelor's degree or higher in heritage management, planning, architecture, history, or equivalent disciplines that relate to in built heritage
- A demonstrated ability to use primary and secondary resources in research
- Well-developed analytical and writing skills, which will translate into well written historical research and reports
- The ability to meet quality, budget, and timeframe requirements
- The ability to work well in a team and the drive and motivation to deliver high quality work
- A valid driver's licence

**Desirable skills and experience**
- A master's level qualification in a heritage discipline
- Experience working in heritage management and consulting
- Some understanding of Queensland heritage and planning legislation
- A Rail Industry Worker card
- A construction industry White Card
- Specialist skills, such as drafting, planning, interpretation, published works
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and/or Adobe Photoshop and photography skills
- Experience with GIS software and systems
