Geologist

We are seeking an experienced Geologist to undertake face mapping of the excavated tunnel faces and other associated duties.

The head office of both PINI Group, CH- Lugano and PINI Australia Pty Ltd will be a point of reference and interface to ensure that all design matters are seen timely and validated by a senior engineer. Systematic updates will be given to the PINI Australia’s general manager.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assessment of swelling behaviour of rock and soil units along tunnel alignment and preparation of tunnel geotechnical reports
- assessments of geological condition during tunnel excavation, forward probing, face mapping and support confirmation, and reviewing geotechnical monitoring data.
- Work with a multidisciplinary team including Civil, Structural, Tunnel, Hydraulic and E&M engineers.

Qualifications and skills
- Relevant Tertiary Degree in, Geology, Geoscience, Earth Sciences, Mining Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering. (Specialty in Tunnelling and Tunnel Boring Machines would be a plus);
- Experience in major infrastructure projects, specifically with large Tunnelling or Hydro projects.
- 6+ years of professional experience as a Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer
- Experience of working with international teams;
- Experience with Australian projects
- Knowledge of software such as Plaxis, Rocscience Suite, Python and PostgreSQL;
- Fluency in French or Italian would be a plus.
