An opportunity exists with Asset Care for a self-motivated and hands-on Technical Officer to work as an integral part of the Mechanical and Materials Testing team at our Smithfield office.

As part of this apprenticeship, you will complete a nationally recognised trade qualification - Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining).

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the key duties of this position are to:

- prepare test samples of varying complexity using hand tools, band saws, and linishers;
- keep machines and general work area clean;
- assist in testing of samples when required;
- general workshop and maintenance duties;
- service and maintain workshop equipment;
- assist in design and manufacture of jigs and fixtures for testing purposes;
- participate in continuous improvement of the machine shop and machining practices.

- be reliable, organised, and flexible;
- ability to work within a team environment;
- be proactive in ensuring compliance with Company safety requirements.
