The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.
The State Principal is responsible for providing strategic direction (including the creation and implementation of initiatives to increase capacity), whilst effectively leading the campuses on a day-to-day basis, through effective management of curriculum, policy and teaching programs.
You will successfully- Provide direct leadership and management to school campuses- Set strategic directions and provide leadership in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and reporting- Provide a quality assurance role in drafting, writing and reviewing policies and procedures associated with student achievement, curriculum and pedagogy- Create a high performing professional learning community that openly shares best practice; where opportunities for improvement and learning growth are identified and acted upon- Lead the project management of, and budget processes for, selected Salvation Army School Programs- Provide leadership in areas such as - the development and review of the Salvation Army strategic vision and operational plans for schools
You will have- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or similar- Postgraduate qualifications in Education or similar are desirable- Extensive relevant professional work experience- Work experience in delivering education to disengaged or vulnerable students; using trauma informed practice and a strength-based approach.- Excellent knowledge of Australian and State curriculum and requirements- Demonstrated capacity to lead a multi-disciplinary team- Demonstrated leadership in delivering and developing curriculum- Experience in providing leadership in educational settings and operating in a complex environment- Experience in dealing flexibly and creatively with a wide range of educational issues and key stakeholders- Experience in implementing innovative and integrated curriculum frameworks- Experience in promoting high standards of excellence in applied learning pedagogy- The ability to build and maintain strategic internal and external partnerships- The ability to foster the relationship and connection between the Salvation Army schools and the wider Salvation Army community
