To be eligible you must be based in or able to relocate to Melbourne, Australia or join us remotely if based within Australia.

The role gives an introduction to the Weta pipeline, modelling tool set, working with onset data and good modelling practices.

The Models department here at Wētā FX is responsible for the creation of the digital assets across all shows. These tasks include character, digital double, organic models, hard surface models, environments, hi-res models for displacement map extraction, low resolution models for previz or crowd simulation, shot sculpting, fur, hair and costume creation using Marvelous Designer.

**Requirements**:

- knowledge of Maya and its modelling tool set.
- Understanding of good topology and model efficiency.
- Good eye for detail and ability to match scan and camera reference.
- Good communication skills and works well in a team environment
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
- Able to take direction from, supervisors or leads
- Willing to learn our pipeline
- Eventually work to deadlines and within production schedules
- A balance of being technically and artistically minded
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn

**Ideal skills**:

- Experience with Unix/Linux systems
- Knowledge of lighting, rendering and/or scripting
- An understanding of VFX production pipelines

The ability to model in other areas would be a bonus.
