Recreation Officer

Chandler Macleod is the leading provider of temporary contractors to the NSW Government and Local Councils and has partnered with NSW Government Departments and Agencies for more than 25 years.

**The Opportunity**
Chandler Macleod is looking to engage a Recreation Officer to be based in Camden on a part time basis (28 hours per week). Please note this is a 6-month contract term with the potential to become a permanent employee in the future.

As the Recreation Officer you will be responsible for assisting and supporting the facilitation of planning and policy development to ensure the provision of a wide variety of open space and recreational opportunities.

**Job Specification**
In this position, you will be required to perform but are not limited to the following tasks:

- Assist with implementation of recreation and open space strategies, policies, procedures, plans, studies, and guidelines for the provision of open space and recreation facilities.
- Assistance with the development of strategic documents to guide the planning and development of open spaces and facilities.
- Maximise opportunities for the use of recreational spaces and facilities whilst having regard for environmentally sustainable design principles.

**About You**
To be successful in this position, you will need to have experience in the following:

- Degree qualifications in recreation planning, leisure studies, recreation management and/or relevant experience in recreation planning and policy development
- Ability to plan, manage and prioritise multiple projects while meeting operational deadlines
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a work team
- Ability to think strategically and creatively within the Council framework of policies and procedures
- Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to instil confidence and develop good rapport
