We have vacancies for Support Workers preferably from African backgrounds to connect and link people in the community with local activities, recreational interests and daily living skills.

**THE ROLE**

Our clientele are all from African backgrounds, therefore it is preferable that Support Workers are also from the same background which will be suitable for language, providing meal assistance and meal preparation, instructions from clients and understanding the culture.

Most of our clients do not speak or understand English.

Shopping, cooking, travel, performing tasks in relation to domestic assistance (e.g. mopping, vacuuming, feeding pets), providing meal assistance and meal preparation.

Medication prompting and monitoring. Assistance with showering, dressing and personal care related tasks with the use of manual handling aids if appropriate. Basic tasks may include booking appointments, assisting with shopping, paying bills, liaising with service coordinator. Access company and social group and other activities if required.

Suburbs we work in are Airport West, Caroline Springs, Essendon, Kensington, Flemington, Footscray, Keilor, Melton, Point Cook, Sunshine, Sydenham, Werribee, Williamstown and Yarraville.

**KEY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS**
- From an African background preferred.
- Resident in Australia with working rights
- Living in Melbourne
- Working with Childrens Check (or ability to get one)
- Qualification in either Certificate 3 Aged Care, Certificate 4 in Disability/ HACC/Individual Support.
- Current First Aid Certificate (or ability to get one)
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Own transport
- Police check ( dated within last 3 months - preferred)
- At least 3 months experience working in Aged Care, Disability, Home and Community Care is preferred.
