**Some career choices have more impact than others.**
At HSBC we exist with the purpose of **Opening up a World of Opportunity.** We use our unique expertise, capabilities, breadth and perspectives to provide opportunities for our customers and colleagues through global connectivity. We bring together the people, ideas and capital that nurture progress and growth, helping to create a better world - for our customers, our people, our investors, our communities and the planet we all share.
As an HSBC employee in Australia, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities, competitive pay, an embedded flexible working culture and a range of employee benefits. These include market-leading subsidised private health cover, enhanced parental pay and support when returning to work, subsidised banking products and services, bonus leave days and wellness programmes including discounted gym memberships.
HSBC’s Real Assets Finance Group is responsible for Infrastructure financings, providing a full suite of services to corporates, financial sponsors, financial institutions and governments in a number of sectors, including Power & Utilities, Energy, Renewables, Digital & Telecoms, Transport, Logistics, Support Services, ESG and Carbon Neutral assets. The team provides a single point for clients to access advice on project financings, capital structure and debt capital markets, as well as associated execution of mandates.
Taking on the role of Associate based in Sydney, you will support the team with the origination and execution of transactions, predominantly in the infrastructure finance space. In doing so, you will have involvement in the entire range of transaction processes, including financial analysis, modelling, credit work, preparation of presentations and credit papers, as well as supporting the management of existing portfolio assets through work on ongoing credit analysis and transaction management support.
You will be a self-starter with a genuine interest in this sector, who enjoys being part of a collaborative high performing team. In addition to your technical skills, your ability to build strong stakeholder relationships will be key to this role.
This specialised role will give you the opportunity to develop your career in an area of business which is highly relevant in a global context, resulting in meaningful work in the areas of acquisition, project and development finance for large scale infrastructure situations where there is need for investment. As part of this team, you will have exposure to a range of transactions and high-profile deals, and the opportunity to truly get involved.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the team with the origination and execution of transactions.
- Undertaking modelling, financial and credit analysis of transactions and opportunities.
- Sector and market research and summaries for clients and internally as well as preparation of marketing material for clients.
- Assisting the internal approval process through preparation of business and credit papers as part of business approval and credit processes.
- Engaging with internal, and to some extent external stakeholders as part of the process of transaction origination and execution.
- Working closely with internal functions, such as credit, compliance and others, as well as product partners to maximise the business opportunities around each transaction.
- Understanding and ensuring compliance with all relevant internal and external regulations and procedures applicable to the business.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A good understanding of infrastructure markets and lending products.
- An understanding of ancillary capital markets products such as bonds, USPPs and derivatives would be an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- Good modelling, report writing and presentation preparation skills.
- Good knowledge of HSBC Group and products.
- Good understanding of risk management and risk mitigation.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a number of tasks efficiently.
We value different perspectives, we succeed together, collaborating across boundaries, we take responsibility, holding ourselves accountable to get things done. Through these values, HSBC is committed to building a culture where all employees are appreciated and respected and where opinions count. We take pride in providing a workplace that fosters continuous professional development, flexible working and opportunities to grow in an inclusive environment. Applications from First Nations peoples are encouraged.
