Reporting to Director, Revenue Forecasting as the GST Forecasting Manager you will play a key role in forecasting GST revenue for Victoria’s budget publications, developing and maintaining the existing GST revenue forecasting models and identifying new methods to improve the quality of GST revenue forecasts.

The Revenue group provides analysis and advice on taxation and gambling policy and reform, supports the Treasurer with regard to intergovernmental financial relations, and undertakes revenue forecasting of state taxation revenue and the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The Revenue Forecasting Team is responsible for forecasting Victoria's state taxation revenue including payroll, property, gambling, insurance and motor vehicle taxes, and Victoria's GST revenue. We are also responsible for the publication of Victoria's Economic Bulletin - DTF's staff research publication.
**About the role**
Reporting to Director, Revenue Forecasting as the GST Forecasting Manager you will play a key role in forecasting GST revenue for Victoria's budget publications, developing and maintaining the existing GST revenue forecasting models and identifying new methods to improve the quality of GST revenue forecasts.
Key accountabilities:
- Manage the GST revenue forecasting process for Victorian Government budget publications
- Work both independently and collaboratively to improve the GST forecasting quality assurance processes and research complex economic, financial and/or public policy issues
- Use your exemplary communication skills to deliver briefings to senior management and government that are timely, accessible, accurate and fit for purpose
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that GST revenue forecasts reflect the most up-to-date information and policy developments
- Lead a team of highly skilled economists while fostering a positive team culture
**About you**
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Experience using economic and econometric models as the basis for the preparation of forecasts
- Experience developing economic or econometric models to improve the quality of advice or recommendations provided to senior executives
- familiarity with the system for distributing GST revenue, and an understanding of public sector financial management would be advantageous
- Experience preparing high quality verbal and written briefings and advice; including the ability to convey complex issues persuasively and effectively in plain language
- Ability to provide strategic and influential advice to senior executives or government on key policy issues
- Experience leading a team, driving a positive culture, and supporting others to pursue common goals
- Ability to identify, build and maintain strong networks and relationships with stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to leverage stakeholder relationships to influence outcomes
