**The Role**:
The **Internal Auditor **will be responsible for examining and evaluating the accuracy and effectiveness of management controls that guide Society activities. This role will use a risk-based approach to ensure that operations comply with Society standards, policies and procedures, laws, regulations, contractual obligations, and generally accepted accounting principles.
**The Internal Auditor will**:
- Assist the Manager Internal Audit to develop annual audit plans for St Vincent de Paul Society NSW, Amelie Housing and SVDP Housing.
- Assist the Manager Internal Audit to develop the audit scope and audit programs.
- Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled audits as required.
- Prepare audit working papers and audit reports for the Manager, Internal Audit to review.
- Follow up management responses and actions to internal audit recommendations.
- Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders, building effective partnerships.
- Liaise with key external stakeholders including the Society’s external auditors and where necessary special investigators.
- Maintain the fraud register in the Integrated Risk Management System.
**To be successful in this role, you will need**:
- Relevant tertiary qualification/s in accounting or a related discipline.
- Previous internal and/or external audit experience.
- Demonstrated thorough analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Strong project management and organisational ability
- Study towards gaining membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia or Certified Internal Auditor.
**Desirable criteria**:
- Experience in cyber security audit and experience working in a large and/or member based organisation.
