Some of the services provided by the Halo Motors Service Team includes mechanical and computerised diagnostic repairs and servicing, routine vehicle maintenance, air filter and air-conditioning checks, suspension and steering maintenance, tyre rotation and calibration, and prepurchase and roadworthy inspections.
**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Prepare, supervise, and control workshop activities, including the scheduling of work within the service department.
- Assist all technicians and apprentice technicians in the diagnosis of mechanical issues. Ensure that all technicians are using their time effectively and efficiently.
- Upon completion of repairs, and or service, inspect and test the technicians work to ensure it has been completed in accordance with the client’s instruction, as well as manufacturer and industry guidelines.
- Reinforce company expectations of behavioural standards in the workshop and foster staff morale and engagement.
- Educate all new and existing staff of dealership policies and procedures and ensure adherence to these. Maintain a well-trained team and supervise in-house training as required.
- Provide management with suggestions for improvements to the Workshop operations.
- Conduct extensive diagnostic procedures to determine the sources of client’s concerns and provide accurate repair, maintenance, and upgrade recommendations. Diagnosing and testing with computer assistance.
- Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job.
- Perform routine automotive maintenance tasks, including but not limited to oil: changes, tyre rotations, transmission flushes, air conditioner recharges, frontend alignments, battery installations and headlight/taillight installations.
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components. Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired.
- Inspect vehicles according to legal requirements for emissions and safety.
- Conduct necessary repairs and take vehicles for test drives to verify soundness.
- Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use.
- Maintain a working knowledge of current industry best practices in automotive repair.
- Maintain legible and accurate paperwork for both the client and for our records.
- Clean and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
- Observe all Workplace Health and Safety precautions to ensure the safety of oneself and others.
**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
**Qualifications**
- Relevant Qualification or industry experience
**Experience**
- More than two years of experience as a Motor Mechanic

- In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems
- Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment

**PERFORMANCE GOALS**
- Coordinates and directs the service department technicians for maximum efficiency and productivity while overseeing all service repair work to ensure superior client experiences are provided.
- Monthly labour sales objectives are achieved.
- All client complaints are tended to immediately and resolved. Positive reviews/feedback are also acknowledged in a timely manner to foster long term client relationships.
- Ensure the development and progression of any apprentices within the team.
- Designated tasks are completed in a timely manner, all deadlines met, and delivered to a high standard.
- Servicing is performed in a professional manner in accordance with industry accepted good practice.
- Workshop is maintained to ensure it is always clean and presentable.
**WORKING ARRANGEMENTS**
- Full-time hours: 38 per week
- Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
- Salary: $75,000 per year plus superannuation
- 8-hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Potential weekends if the business requires
