**About the role**

The NSW Small Business Commission is seeking a motivated individual to take on a key leadership role in this independent authority overseeing a centralised services function and uplifting the performance of these services. This will be achieved through your ability to inspire and drive continuous improvement in service functions such as customer experience, business and ministerial support, information technology and reporting and insights.

**In this role, you will**:

- Lead strategic planning initiatives, integrating a whole of government approach, and function as a principal point of contact for the small business sector to promote strategic small business program initiatives.
- Build strategic level partnerships with state and national organisations, both internal and external, representing NSW Small Business Commission on inter-agency working groups and committees to maintain understanding of state-wide service delivery developments and expectations.
- Work closely with Communications & Engagement teams to coordinate the research and preparation of communication content for the Minister’s Office and stakeholders, including briefing documents correspondence media releases, speeches, and reports ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Lead the operational management of the team including governance, risk, financial, ICT and resource management motivating and developing staff to ensure a highly skilled team can deliver identified program outcomes.

- Strong ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams supporting the delivery of key functions of the Commission with the ability to create a culture of customer centricity, innovation, continuous improvement and collaboration.
- Capable of developing and implementing key initiatives and ideas to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Natural ability to build relationships and partnerships whilst having the confidence to influence and deliver key outcomes.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to be able to work with multi-disciplinary teams and engage with various stakeholders.
- Experience in a leadership role in areas of operations, service delivery, customer experience, and program & project management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and procurement operations is highly desired.

- The Small Business Commission is an independent authority which:

- Provides a central point of contact for small businesses to make complaints about their commercial dealings with other businesses and their dealings with government agencies,
- Facilitates the resolution of disputes involving small businesses through mediation and other appropriate forms of alternative dispute resolution,
- Encourages government agencies and larger businesses to enter into productive working relationships with small businesses,
- Supports the fair treatment of small businesses,

As an advocate for the interests of small businesses the Commission operates a subsidised mediation service to help businesses resolve disputes quickly and efficiently.

The Commissioner works with government, industry groups and other stakeholders to reduce red tape and make it easier for small businesses to operate.
