City of Moreton Bay are proudly partnering with the Queensland Government in the Skilling Queenslanders for Work First Start Traineeship program.

This program aims to provide young people and disadvantaged job seekers with an opportunity to join our team for 12 months within a hands on traineeship position where you will develop new skills and experience whilst undertaking a nationally recognised qualification and contributing to our local community through paid employment.

**The details**:

- Multiple Full Time Positions available (duration 12 months) | **9 day fortnight**| 76 hour fortnight
- Starting at $49,883 pa (includes industry allowance and uniform allowance) + 12% super + leave loading. **Incremental remuneration increases will occur** with time spent in the position or upon completion of an outlined number of training competencies (whichever comes first)
Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream B) - Level 4 of the EBA5 _(pro rata)_
- Location**:Site based with a home depot location of Burpengary (Civil Construction)** **or** **Petrie Depot (Parks and Gardens)** - travel allowance is applicable when travelling distances further than your home depot location. Please note, these positions will be moving to a Narangba location in the coming months.

**About our Traineeship Opportunities**

We are excited to be offering traineeships across our Construction and Parks operational areas within the Operations department of City of Moreton Bay where you have the opportunity to finish your 12-month traineeship program with a formal qualification in either Civil Construction or Parks and Gardens.

Your responsibilities will include undertaking the requirements of the training program you'll enroll into whilst participating a range of construction and maintenance duties as directed or horticultural and general parks tasks. Our traineeships will have you performing general labouring tasks, using and maintain equipment and items of plant (where applicable) as well as maintaining good working relations with team members and the public. Opportunities for our Operational Traineeship currently sit within these teams:
**Our Parks Team** **(undertaking a Certificate II in Parks and Gardens)**

We have some of Queensland’s best natural scapes, gardens and parks and we have an opportunity for you to take it all in. Our Parks team are accountable for the maintenance of our parks, gardens, reserves and open greenspaces. Based out of the Petrie depot, this traineeship offers the opportunity to work with various teams undertaking general labouring duties related to parks, gardens and green space maintenance. This role provides a unique chance to contribute to the upkeep of these areas while experiencing the variety and satisfaction that comes with working outdoors in different settings.

You'll be part of a dynamic team, enjoying a diverse range of tasks and locations. Your duties will include activities such as:
- mowing parks and nature strips
- mulching and weeding
- pruning and planting
- brushcutting and hedging
- spraying and removal of debris and litter

Your work will directly contribute to the upkeep of our parks, gardens and green spaces, making a tangible difference in our community's areas of enjoyment, boosting their safety and appearance.

**Our Construction Team (undertaking a Certificate II in Civil Construction)**

The City of Moreton Bay is home to vital infrastructure that keeps our community connected and thriving. Our internal construction crews play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing these assets, and we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team.

Based at various sites across the City of Moreton Bay, this traineeship offers the chance to work with skilled professionals on a diverse range of civil construction projects. You'll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to preserving and improving our city's infrastructure, ensuring it meets the needs of our growing community.

As a trainee, you'll gain hands-on experience in essential civil construction activities, including:
- road rehabilitation
- stormwater drainage installation
- bulk earthworks
- traffic and transport infrastructure upgrades

Your role will provide a unique opportunity to develop a comprehensive skill set in civil construction. You'll learn valuable techniques such as:
- concrete formwork, placement and finishing
- road pavement compaction
- interpretation of complex construction drawings
- use of advanced survey technology (GPS units
