We are currently seeking a **Environmental Officer** to join our team.

**Day to day, the role will involve**:

- Support and provide input to the design of environmental controls within a project zone or zones to ensure compliance with the suite of Designation, Resource Consent and related management plans and minimise the effect of the operation on the environment.
- Work closely with the Construction team to ensure that environmental issues are identified and addressed in a proactive manner to assist in achieving programme objectives.
- Undertake environmental monitoring and inspections of zones; including:
Erosion and sediment control inspections

Erosion and sediment control “as built’ certifications.

Monitoring exposed areas and ensuring progressive stabilisation is completed in accordance with consent requirements.

Dust monitoring, as required.

Water sampling

Sediment pond sampling / testing and design of chemical treatment devices
- Organise and prepare Construction Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
- Support and assist in the overall monitoring programme as detailed in the Adaptive Monitoring Plan (AMP) including co-ordinating sampling and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with Resource Consent conditions.
- Prepare Construction Noise and Vibration Management Plans, and undertake Construction Noise and Vibration Monitoring
- Liaise with and manage ecologists including associated monitoring and management programmes.
- Manage environmental contracts and contractors, including suppliers of environmental monitoring equipment, waste management and other contractors as necessary.
- Assist with responses to environmental compliance breaches and investigations including provision of input to reports as required and in a timely manner.
- Assist with training initiatives (including inductions, environmental awareness, daily briefings, toolbox meetings, etc).
- Assist with environmental aspects of water sampling requirements.
- Develop and support environmental innovations and promoting best practice.

**Required Qualifications and Experience**:

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental science or related discipline;
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the environmental management.
- At least one year of experience with Transmission Lines (High Voltage);
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practice;
- Ability to deliver results in a team environment;
