Perth, Australia GHD Full time

At GHD, we don’t just believe in the power of commitment, we live and breathe it every day.

If you want to start a career with impact, from solving everyday problems through to tackling some of the great challenges our clients and communities face, you’ll find that here at GHD.

You might think that sounds like marketing spin, but that’s the lived experience of our graduates, who participate in opportunities across the business, whether in different teams, different locations or different career pathways. We’re a business built on finding your path in a supportive, collaborative environment.

We know community impact is important to our staff. Our GHD in the Community program partners with not-for-profit organisations to provide opportunities to work on pro-bono projects, volunteering and fundraising for philanthropic and humanitarian causes. As a business we also funnel some of our profits into the GHD Foundation, a registered charity that works to address disadvantage and inequality in children accessing STEAM education in our countries of operation.

**What are we looking for?**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Landscape Planner or a Graduate Landscape Architect, with a keen interest in developing skills in Landscape Visual Impact Assessment and Landscape Character Assessment to join our Planning, Consultation and Urban Design team in Western Australia.

You will work alongside our technical specialists and receive training and development in impact assessment, strategic planning, policy research and design influence enabling you to build upon your skills and experience, as you forge a career path in this growing specialist team.

This unique role offers the opportunity to travel frequently to remote and diverse landscapes across Western Australia and interstate. The successful applicant will undertake site assessments and landscape photography on adventurous site visits with all necessary technical and safety training provided.

**What is the role?**
- Conducting Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs)
- Contributing to project outcomes within industries that include Renewable Energy, Tourism, Transport and Water
- Undertaking site visits and visual impact photography
- Providing landscape and urban design recommendations relating to LVIA
- Development of policy documents relating to landscape character and visual impact assessment
- Producing strategic landscape plans
- Collaborating with clients, co-consultants and government authorities
- Exposure to a variety of exciting projects, in, regional, metropolitan national, international, and coastal locations
- Assessment of Indigenous landscapes, and engagement with Traditional Owners.

**To be successful in these roles you will have the following academic and personal attributes**:

- The capability to work collaboratively within a project team, with the support of senior staff.
- Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture (or similar, such as Urban Design, Environmental Planning and Geography)
- Strong writing skills are essential, as are great verbal communication skills.
- A genuine interest in landscape character and visual impact assessment
- Experience in the use of Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous
- An interest in Australian planning policy and legislation
- Experience in GIS, AutoCAD and other software packages such as Sketchup (desirable but not required).

**What can we offer you?**

Outside of the technical development you will gain from working with a successful and experienced team, you’ll also join GHD’s Graduate Development Program. The Graduate Program is a globally aligned learning framework where you’ll interact with graduates across Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. It has been designed for future portability, so that no matter where your graduate position in GHD takes you, the learning experience will be impactful and consistent.

During the two-year program, you’ll learn about our business and our values, your team and most importantly, yourself. You’ll develop your decision-making, communication, technical and leadership skills. We offer personal mentoring and a variety of development activities.

We offer optional rotations in the second year of your program to help explore your career pathways, a structured approach to promotions and salary reviews over your first two years and a culture that is friendly, inclusive and not built on hierarchy.
