A leader in Fuel and Gas Haulage, this private company is a successful, Australian owned Transport company; one of Australia’s largest, independent oil groups.

Our Transport Operation is seeking a standout General Manager to take responsibility for operations, strategic planning, and profitability of the company’s transport operations. This role has you operating in the Bulk Dangerous Goods industry conducting both intrastate, interstate and local distribution functions nationally.

The operation consists of a fleet of Prime Movers and trailers, operating across six states transporting both fuel and LPG. You will be responsible for compliance in all areas of operational activity, ensuring standards and execution are optimum.

**Role Expectations and outcomes**:

- Ensure Compliance with all statutory requirements on appropriate sites specifically HSSE.
- Prepare Budgets ensure they are transparent, and in line with both what is deliverable and quantifiable.
- Review Monthly Profit & Loss Statements and identify issues, concerns and trends then report outcomes and plans to the CEO.
- Prepare appropriate analysis and implement productivity improvements based on this analysis.
- Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures that ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of goods.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation regulations and standards, including those related to safety, licensing, and registration.
- Develop and manage budgets for transportation operations and ensure that expenditures are within budgetary limits.
- Monitor transportation performance metrics, such as on-time delivery, fuel consumption, and vehicle utilization, and develop strategies to improve performance.
- Ensuring efficient and effective product routing to optimize fleet and people utilization.
- Effective personnel rostering and driver management.
- Managing the cost and performance of sub-contractors where applicable.
- Ensuring accurate freight manifests are maintained to meet compliance requirements.
- Management of equipment requirements; ensuring speedy resolution of any faults or problems.
- Maintaining ongoing customer satisfaction; managing customer feedback and reporting of KPIs.
- Assisting with and monitoring of financial performance and debtor control; setting budgets and individual targets.
- Performance management: lead, mentor and identify talent to maximize employee potential.
- Assisting management with accounts, correspondence, document control and financial reporting function.

**Skills and experience should cover**:

- Diploma level or higher in Business Management.
- HSSE management, drive a focus of engagement and continued development of the company’s plans, policies and processes.
- Managerial experience, fleet control experience within the Petroleum, Chemicals, Dangerous Goods transportation industry (highly regarded). Sound knowledge and hands on experience within the fuel and chemicals transport Industry.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to deliver required results.
- Proven experience in people management, including supervising and training drivers.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with strong analytical and troubleshooting ability.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in managing people, performance and supporting decision making processes.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and fatigue management as it pertains to the logistics industry.
- Experience working in a fast paced, pressurised work environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively on all levels and create positive relationships.
- Exposure to, or experience in dealing with chemicals, liquids or dangerous goods.
