Hatchery Supervisor

A permanent position is available for a Hatchery Supervisor at a large commercial poultry farming business located at Beerwah on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

The Hatchery Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the hatchery to meet customer’s needs on a timely basis including Quality Assurance and Workplace Health and Safety.

The position is critical to the life cycle, so the Hatchery Supervisor must live near the hatchery for routine early work starts and to participate in the 24 hour on-call roster and respond to alarms in a timely manner.

This unique role is best suited to a worker with previous experience in a similar position or a worker with poultry experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. Applicants must take note for bio-security purposes they cannot keep any avian species at home.

DUTIES
- Supervise day-to-day hatchery operations
- Monitor and record hatchery processes
- Supervise chicken take off and counting and designate numbers per shed for deliveries
- Supervise traying up, grading and preparation of sales orders in the cold room
- Prepare vaccine for processes (as required)
- On-call duties including alarm monitoring
- Identify and monitor hatchery maintenance, notify Manager
- Monitor hatchery consumables, notify Manager
- Issue and control Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Assist to implement, develop, and improve QA and Workplace Health and Safety systems

SKILLS & QUALITIES
- Previous hatchery experience preferred
- Operates single and multistage incubators
- Professional and confident manner
- Strong attention to detail while working under pressure
- Organisational and time management skills
- Adapts to change
- Adheres to WHS guidelines and policies
- Must have driver’s licence with HR licence preferred
