**The Role**
The Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, picking, dispatch, and inventory control. This role ensures that the entire warehouse functions smoothly and efficiently while adhering to safety protocols, company standards, and regulatory requirements. The Department Manager will manage and guide Warehouse Supervisors, providing direction and support to maintain high productivity and morale across all departments. They will monitor operational performance, address challenges proactively, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
**The Role & Responsibilities**
- Manage and coordinate daily warehouse operations, including receiving, picking, packing, and dispatching orders.
- Oversee stock management, including replenishment, inventory control, and ensuring accurate stock levels.
- Take ownership of warehouse operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and business objectives are met within a well-organised and positive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
- Implement and refine warehouse processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and excellent customer service.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare reports for management.
- Monitor and manage warehouse expenses to align with budgetary goals.
- Develop initiatives to boost employee engagement, morale, and retention through recognition and feedback.
**About you**
- Proven experience in warehouse management or a similar leadership role.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members, stakeholders, and senior management.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and oversee multiple operational areas efficiently.
- Proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing effective solutions to maintain operational flow.
- High level of accuracy in monitoring inventory, overseeing administrative tasks, and ensuring quality standards.
- Competency in using warehouse management systems, such as D365 or similar software, for inventory and operational tasks.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control practices, including FIFO, stock rotation, and efficient handling procedures.
- Forklift license and experience is preferable.
- A go-getter attitude - no task is too big or small.
- Flexible availability to work across 7 days, weekends and public holidays.
