**The Opportunity**
This position offers the unique opportunity to work in locations within the NIAA South Australia region to assist, lead and shape the relationships with key partners in Indigenous communities, the Commonwealth, State Governments and private enterprise to positively influence improved Closing the Gap outcomes.
The role works with a considerable degree of independence, under broad direction of the Director and has a key responsibility to manage, support and develop staff within their team. You will be part of a regional team and report directly to the Director providing support, leadership and advise. This regional and place-based focus is at the core of our work and this position requires a strong level of engagement. Working in place, the role is responsible for:
- furthering development and implementation of strategies and projects that will have a positive impact on Closing the Gap targets under the Commonwealth Closing the Gap Implementation Plan
- facilitating engagement, brokering collaboration and building effective partnerships with partners, communities and key internal and external stakeholders
- contribute to strategic plans and lead the development of business cases and project plans for new initiatives
- maintain an awareness of research, trends, developments and reforms, at both State and National levels, on issues affecting Indigenous people.

- exceptional communication, influencing and interpersonal skills who has demonstrated capability to effectively engage and establish partnerships across a broad range of relevant stakeholders
- motivated individual keen to make a difference and contribute to the NIAA's focus on improving outcomes for First Nations people through partnerships and shared decision making
- mentor, guide and develop team members, including identifying staff learning needs, monitoring and providing feedback on performance and building co-operation within the team to work to common goals.
Essential: Must have a current motor vehicle driver’s license and be able to undertake intra and interstate travel. In our Operating Environment across NIAA, staff work closely with community members and develop intimate understandings of the regional and local needs and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
