**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 4, AUSPIC Image Cataloguer within Design Integrity and Special Collections (DISC). This position is being offered as an initial non-ongoing 12-month contract with the possibility of extension and the opportunity for flexible work from home arrangements.

DPS are responsible for a wide range of services and facilities, working closely with the Department of the Senate, the Department of the House of Representatives and the Parliamentary Budget Office to support the operations of the Parliament and its Committees.

The Design Integrity and Special Collections (DISC) Unit has several core roles which include:

- Manage the transfer and processing of Australian Parliament House (APH) records from the historic AUSPIC collection into a DAMS system. AUSPIC is the photographic service responsible for documenting an official pictorial record of the Australian Parliament. In addition, it provides services to parliamentary departments and other Commonwealth entities to cover official government business.
- Coordinate and catalogues resources that are integral to the design and construction of APH within the APH Archive.
- Coordinate consultation on matters that have the potential to affect the design intent of APH, to help ensure changes maintain or enhance the building and its precincts.

DISC AUSPIC collection staff collaborate with the photographic team and staff across DPS, to ensure that AUSPIC records are managed correctly and catalogued to support client engagement with the AUSPIC collection. DISC works with colleagues in DPS to ensure the original design intent of APH is well understood at every stage of design and construction of new building works and maintenance or the introduction of technological changes which may have an impact on APH.

**Who we are looking for**:
The successful applicant will have experience in creating and editing descriptive and rights metadata according to guidelines. Ideally, have previous experience working with digital asset management systems. Applicants should have good attention to detail, research and problem-solving skills. Applicants should have demonstrated organisation and communication skills to work as part of a small collaborative team.

This project will enable access to and provide management for the AUSPIC historic photographic collection. An interest in Australian politics would be useful. Familiarity with record management and digital preservation standards and practices would be an advantage.

**Job Specific Requirements**:

- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 4 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
2. Complete additional research, where required, to enrich metadata, ensuring efficient retrieval of material in a Digital Asset Management System.

3. Participate as required in projects to enhance the digital delivery of products and services.

4. Contribute to the continuous improvement of services to ensure the needs of parliamentary clients are met, including projects that align to the section’s strategic goals.

5. Contribute to client service delivery through liaison with clients, internal staff and external agencies to resolve minor operational issues and provide training and support.
