Why this role matters
As the Ministry Assistant - Community Engagement Worker you will provide support to the Corps Officer in the development of community ministries at Fortress Corps, identifying and ensuring that the needs of the Corps and local community are met. You will demonstrate discernment, good stewardship and seek the leading of the Holy Spirit as they work with Corps’ leaders to build and maintain sustainable Faith Pathways (in all areas including creativity, environmental, finance, location, leadership and resources) ensuring the mutual flourishing of all and the continuation of a vibrant faith expression of The Salvation Army in the city of Perth.
The role you could play
- In consultation with Corps Officer, TSA networks and external agencies, develop equitable and efficient community activities and programs, focusing on meeting community need
- Build relationships with key internal & external stakeholders to ensure quality service delivery.
- Develop, facilitate and support participation in programs that aim to build community while meeting current needs within our community.
- Journey with individuals and families, connecting them into appropriate programs / support networks
- Engage and connect with all persons coming for help and support with the intention of connecting them to each other and our mission
- Ensure Corps programs and activities provide opportunities for evangelism or outreach and solidify links with the community
- Develop activities in response to the community needs analysis in line with the vision of the Corps, ensuring there are effective faith pathways for participants and volunteers
What you will bring
- Minimum Certificate III in Community Services
- Minimum 12 months experience working in community services sector and working in collaboration with other organisations to provide advice to meet client needs
- Understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing financial difficulties, homelessness, substance use disorders, mental health.
- Willing to offer pastoral support and explain the Christian Gospel
- A Working with Children Check is required
- WA Drivers Licence is required
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
