Design System Lead

**Overview**
- The purpose of the Design System Lead is to drive the roadmap, build and implementation of Link Group RSS Design System of UI components, icons, language, interaction patterns and other documentation, in line with the vision and strategy. This role will be responsible for the ongoing evolution, maintenance, governance and adoption of the Design System. This role will bridge the gap between experience design and development, and provide operational efficiencies to both designers and developers. The Design System Lead will have interactions across a variety of stakeholders including UX, Product, Client Partnership, Technology, and sometimes clients directly. This role may be an interpreter across those different functions and needs to be able to communicate with and develop common understanding.

**Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities**

Strategic Focus
- Drive the vision for the Design System to achieve objectives
- Align the Design System with Link Group’s Diversity and Inclusion objectives

Operational Management
- Manage, implement, and maintain consistency across the Design System
- Make design decisions based on research and insights with inclusive design best practices in mind
- Build and manage components and patterns that are reusable, resizable and efficient for designers to implement and other documentation across the design system stack (Figma and Storybook),
- Develop instructions to support developers to implement designs efficiently according to best practice, including accessibility
- Ensure alignment and consistency in design and development
- Lead the creation and implementation of resources, tools and documentation that support the Design System
- Design governance processes and manage the change release process for the Design System
- Continuously conduct end-to-end audits of our Design System, and solve for discrepancies to push the Design System forward
- Define success metrics and report performance of the system to key stakeholders
- Participate and lead design reviews to increase awareness of our Design System
- QA/review the coded version of the UI components with developers
- Provide spin-off design systems for clients, packaged with training and supporting documentation
- Use enterprise UX practices to design the product, including interfaces, information architecture, resources and content

People Leadership
- Evangelise adoption of the Design System
- Provide design leadership and guidance to teams around using shared patterns, and identifying opportunities to create new patterns and components within their workstreams

Governance & Risk
- Ensure Design System are compliant with the latest WCAG to AA level (2.1)
- Ensure code snippets have been tested and are aligned with W3C standards
- Comply with Link Group policies, including IT Change Management

**Experience & Personal Attributes**
- Extensive UX/UI design experience with a deep understanding of how to create usable, accessible, and modular designs that can scale across multiple products, multiple brands and millions of users
- Experience working and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic environment
- Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Knowledge of ReactJS (or willingness to learn)
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Experienced with Figma and component management
- Knowledge of Atomic Design concepts and design system management
- Familiarity with agile ways of working
