**About the role**
The Metallurgist will play a pivotal role in supporting our metallurgical operations and development projects, contributing to process improvement, optimisation, expansion, advancement and quality assurance through activities including metallurgical testwork, process design and operational support.
In this position you’ll:
- Contribute to the development and management of metallurgical testwork programs.
- Conduct analysis, interpretation and reporting of testwork results.
- Support the development of flowsheets, mass balances, process design criteria and other process deliverables based on testwork results and design information.
- Contribute to ensuring the alignment of key process deliverables with testwork.
- Review and ensure alignment of project engineering, procurement, service provider, and vendor documentation, e.g. datasheets, drawings, etc.
- Be a focal point for metallurgical/process queries from suppliers and engineering service providers and respond to all queries within skill set and knowledge in a timely manner.
- Review operating and technical data to identify any trends or non-compliance and ascertain opportunities to rectify problems or to implement processes improvement / optimisation.
- Assist in the development of project scopes and business cases for production optimisation projects.
- Execute and project manage the safe and timely delivery of optimisation projects.
- Validate reported metallurgical and operating data and prepare periodical management reports.
- Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of key process controls, operating systems and plant flow sheets.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance programmes and audits ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and technical standards for the processing department.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues or non-conformities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the integrity and consistency of metallurgical products.
- Engage with project services, engineering, and other internal departments.
- Be able to provide technical input across a range of commodities and unit processes including comminution, screening, gravity separation, flotation, and dewatering.
- Provide on-site support for projects on an as required basis, transferring to a site roster for periods of time when necessary.

**Necessary skills and qualifications**:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Metallurgical or Process Engineering.
- 5-10 years experience in managing metallurgical operations and or testwork laboratories.
- Proficient in conducting and managing metallurgical testwork programs.
- Experience working in an engineering environment will be well regarded.
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise workloads to meet targets.
- Excellent software skills, particularly MS Excel and MS Word.
- Highly adept in data analysis and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with a positive and proactive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Analytical with an eye for detail.
