Our three broad aims are that all students will: - Develop skills to manage their pathway now and throughout their working lives. - Develop knowledge, understanding and experience of opportunities in education, training and employment. - Successfully transition from compulsory schooling to further education, training and/or employment. All Year 9-12 students at Ballarat High School have a Career Action Plan. Careers planning has an individual focus with one adult working with a young person, assisting them to negotiate a pathway and to assist them in following it through. Another feature of our Careers Advisors is tracking the destinations of school leavers. This aims to support students who have left the school, to ensure they are engaged in suitable further training or employment. Schools must also develop networks and partnerships with RTO providers and community agencies, to give students access to all available opportunities. Attendance during some school holiday periods may be required and would be compensated through Leave Purchase or Time in Lieu arrangements. **Responsibilities**: The holder of the position will work in partnership with the other Careers Advisor and closely with the Assistant Principals, Sub-School Leaders, Team Leaders and VCE/VM Coordinator to implement a careers program in accordance with Department of Education guidelines. The key scope of the position may include but is not limited to: - Work collaboratively with other members of the careers team to implement and regularly evaluate careers planning and implementation of BHS policies and processes. - Provide support to individuals and small groups of students about education, training and course counselling. - Follow up students exiting the school, to assist them in engaging in further education, training or employment, and maintain a computer database, using the CASES21 software. - Facilitate, in conjunction with the relevant Assistant Principal, enrolments and pathways for students in alternative educational programs. - Facilitate Career Action Plans from Year 9-12 and conduct Year 12 Intention interviews. - Manage My Career Insights (Morrisby) with Year 9 students. - Organise and coordinate the work experience program. - Provide advice and support to VM staff in their organisation of VM work placements. - Maintain accurate records of all student Career Action Plans and meeting notes on Compass. - Participation in community networks and events such as the Ballarat Careers Network and liaising with employers, employment agencies and RTO's to foster positive relationships. - Provide accurate destination data and reports for the School and Department of Education, as required. - Provide support to staff who are involved in careers planning and course counselling. - Contribute to the BHS parent newsletter and other media communications as appropriate. **Who May Apply**: Individuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfil the specific requirements of the position. **EEO AND OHS Commitment**: **Child Safe Standards**: Victorian government schools are child safe environments.
