This State Government Department specialises in financial compliance and internal control audits within the public sector. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of public sector financial statements and engage in extended reviews that address important issues within the public sector.
**Your new role**
As an Audit Officer, you will enter this department at the graduate entry level. You will initially work under close supervision, receiving comprehensive training to develop your skills. As your experience and knowledge grow, you will take on more complex assignments, gradually assuming greater responsibility and independence.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Undertake core audit tasks within agreed time frames and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and Auditing standards.
- Assisting with financial compliance and internal controls audits within the public sector
- Contributing to the development of public sector financial statements in compliance with regulatory and professional standards
- Participating in extended reviews that focus on critical issues to enhance the efficiency and economy of public sector resource utilisation
**What you'll need to succeed**
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- A valid National Police Clearance
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with complex financial data
- Solid understanding of financial compliance and internal controls principles
- Proficiency in relevant software tools and technologies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret legislation
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders
