**The Role**:
The purpose of the Pricing Actuary role will be to conduct technical actuarial rate reviews on portfolios of business, manage the pricing change process risk and oversee the regular reporting process, including monitoring and proactive investigation of performance issues.

To be successful in this role, the Pricing Actuary should have a good technical understanding of a rate review process, a flair for math and an analytical way of thinking.

**Accountabilities**:

- To manage the entire end-to-end rate review process including data preparation, modelling, review, implementation and monitoring as well as make recommendations for continuous improvements to the process or data inputs
- To support the development of new products, including the business case, financial models, pricing structures and strategy
- To evaluate, manage and communicate complex changes to pricing structures
- To proactively investigate and respond to monthly portfolio performance issues, including automating the reporting process
- Prepare complex papers and other communication material for senior management including the Pricing and Underwriting Committee

**Essential Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications**:

- 5+ years of general insurance industry experience;
- Newly qualified actuary or a nearly qualified actuary (Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia);
- Proven analytical and problem-solving capability;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Clear understanding of statistical modelling techniques and, in particular, risk modelling approaches (e.g. GLMs).
- Familiarity with statistical software packages (e.g. EMBLEM, SAS, R, SQL) is advantageous; and
- Degree qualified in mathematics, actuarial studies or similar (Actuarial qualifications viewed favorably).
