**About the role

The Senior Medical Officer - Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Connect Service is a new role established to support the implementation of Voluntary Assisted Dying across West Moreton Health (WMH).

The Senior Medical Officer (VAD Connect Service) provides leadership in clinical services of voluntary assisted dying that is innovative and encourages whole of organisation participation in treatment and care aimed at achieving person-centred outcomes. A subspecialty interest in oncology, neurology, palliative care, anaesthetics, pain management, general medicine or general practice is desirable but not essential. Any other specialty deemed appropriate will be considered.

About you

High level clinical expertise and comprehensive contemporary knowledge of the provision of patient centred care in voluntary assisted dying, including an ability to manage complex clinical situations, coordinate, case manage and successfully deliver comprehensive patient
- centred care and clinical governance for the VAD Connect service.
Advanced level communication skills and organisational ability, including well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively use problem solving and conflict resolution frameworks.
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, patients and their carers.
Ability to facilitate a learning environment by sharing knowledge and expertise, leading teaching activities, contributing to the ongoing professional development of self and others and demonstrating skills in service improvement and research.
Evidence of the implementation of quality improvement and risk management initiatives to improve compliance, patient safety and clinical practice.

Mandatory Requirements:
Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
