Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented part-time dental technician specializing in orthodontic appliances to join our dental practice. As an integral member of our team, you will be responsible for fabricating various orthodontic appliances and ensuring their accurate and precise construction. **Responsibilities**:
Orthodontic Appliance Fabrication: Utilize your expertise and knowledge of orthodontic principles to construct a variety of appliances, including but not limited to retainers, splints, expanders, and aligners, according to patient prescriptions and specifications.
Material Preparation: Select appropriate materials, such as acrylics, wires, and clasps, and prepare them for the fabrication process, ensuring their quality and compatibility with orthodontic appliances.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain dental laboratory equipment, such as casting machines, model trimmers, vacuum formers, and laser welders, to facilitate the fabrication process and ensure their longevity.
Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks on all fabricated orthodontic appliances, verifying their accuracy, fit, and functionality, and make necessary adjustments or repairs as needed to achieve optimal results.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with orthodontists and dental assistants to ensure clear communication regarding appliance design, patient needs, and any specific instructions or modifications required for successful fabrication.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized records of all fabricated appliances, including patient details, prescriptions, materials used, and any relevant notes or modifications made during the fabrication process.
Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all established infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards when handling dental laboratory equipment, materials, and patient records.
**Requirements**:
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a dental laboratory technology program or a relevant certification in dental technology is preferred. Previous experience in orthodontic appliance fabrication is highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Proficient in the fabrication of various orthodontic appliances, including retainers, splints, expanders, and aligners. Knowledge of different appliance designs, wire bending techniques, and appliance adjustment procedures is necessary.
Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to pay meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy and precision of all fabricated orthodontic appliances.
Manual Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate small tools, wires, and materials with precision.
Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure timely delivery of fabricated appliances.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, effectively communicating and coordinating with orthodontists, dental assistants, and other dental laboratory technicians.
Ethics and Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to ethical standards, patient confidentiality, and regulatory requirements related to dental laboratory practices.
Continuous Learning: Keen interest in staying updated with the latest advancements in orthodontic technology, materials, and techniques to enhance personal skills and contribute to the growth of the practice.
This part-time position offers flexibility in scheduling. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
