**Position description Team Member Biodiversity**

**Purpose**

The Team Member Biodiversity will be responsible for performing maintenance and open
space works.

The primary objective of this position is maintaining Councils open space assets with the key
focus on delivering efficient and effective services to the community.

The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to maintain solid relationships
with internal and external stakeholders.

As an ongoing commitment to the organisation you will be responsible for delivering the
best service to our community and to improve residents’ quality of life; continuously, smartly
and efficiently in the scope of your daily work.

**Key Deliverables**
- Maintenance of indigenous & native plants including planting and protection, weed

control and declared plant identification.
- Reserve maintenance (for indigenous landscapes only) and pathway surface

maintenance for Coastal Walking Trail, including site clean-up.
- Operate minor plant and equipment to maintain Council’s reserves and surrounding

spaces.
- Provide input to the Open Spaces metrics programs and other operational programs.
- Deliver on key performance indicators as set out by the Field Supervisor Arboriculture

& Biodiversity Maintenance.
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience to external clients and internal

departments.
**Person Specification**

Essential criteria
- Advanced communication skills both written and verbal.
- MR drivers licence
- Certificate III in Conservation Land Management
- Appropriate licences to operate plant and equipment used in maintenance
- Minimum 3 years in a similar biodiversity role.
- Ability to be innovative, flexible and creative in determining practical solutions to

operational problems
- Intermediate computer literacy skills (desktop/tablet/smartphone)
- Ability to develop new technical skills and embrace new technology and techniques
- Sound organisational/time management skills

- Certificate III in Horticulture
