**About the Business Unit**:

- An exciting opportunity to join a high-performing legal team at the centre of government, which advises on a variety of commercial and regulatory legal matters across the justice system.
- The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is seeking to fill 2 VPS4 Legal Adviser positions.
- The Office of the General Counsel is responsible for providing in-house legal services across the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) and to the Attorney-General, as First Law Officer, and other DJCS portfolio Ministers.
- The Commercial & Regulatory team provides legal support to DJCS' operations, programs and enabling functions, including a wide range of investigations, disputes and litigation. The team's work spans procurement, infrastructure, IT, construction, employment and OHS matters, integrity body investigations, inquiries, and FOI litigation and privacy matters.

**About the Role**:

- In the role of the Legal Adviser, Commercial & Regulatory, some of your duties will include:

- Providing solutions-based legal advice on issues relevant to the government, Ministers and the department, both individually and as part of a team of solicitors
- Managing multiple complex and sensitive commercial and regulatory matters for various clients
- Undertaking legal research and analysis on complex legal matters with outstanding commercial/regulatory and drafting skills.

**About You**:

- The ability to analyse complex legal issues, interpret contracts and legislation and develop accurate legal solutions with mínimal supervision
- Experience providing legal advice in relation to commercial transactions, projects and disputes and/or a wide range of regulatory matters (advisory, disputes and investigations)
- Experience in, or knowledge of, Victorian government and Cabinet processes.
- Qualifications/Requirements:_
- Admitted to practice as a legal practitioner in Victoria.
