Agricultural Technician

A bachelor's degree in Horticulture or Agriculture is required.
- At least one year of applicable experience in the agriculture or horticulture sector is necessary.
- Experience in vegetable farming, particularly with cucumbers or similar crops, is a plus.
- Familiarity with pest and disease identification and management methods is essential.
- Knowledge of polytunnel or greenhouse management practices is preferred.
- Proficiency in operating agricultural tools and technology.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Physically fit and open to working in outdoor and polytunnel environments.
- Competent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Oversee the growth of cucumber crops, including plant health, flowering, fruiting and yield within polytunnel environments.
- Gather and maintain records regarding crop development, pest and disease occurrences and environmental factors.
- Aid in sowing, transplanting, pruning, trellising, and harvesting activities.
- Manage and service climate control, irrigation and fertigation systems.
- Execute and track Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies, such as scouting for and controlling pests.
- Perform sampling of soil, water and plant tissue to inform nutrient and crop management decisions.
- Assist with agronomic trials and precision agriculture initiatives including spacing tests and climate evaluations.

**Responsibilities will involve**:

- Ensuring adherence to Laxmi Wadi Pty Ltd’s policies.
- Working with the management team to maintain accurate farm records for traceability and compliance.
- Implementing crop protection protocols in line with WHS and environmental regulations.
- Aiding in equipment calibration and offering technical support to farm personnel and agronomists.
