**About the Role**

We’re on the lookout for a **Trades Assistant** to join our **Maintenance and Grounds team**. This hands-on role supports qualified tradespeople by assisting with **general repairs, landscaping, and facility maintenance** to ensure Southport Sharks remains a well-presented, safe, and welcoming venue.

This is a **great opportunity** for someone who enjoys **varied work, problem-solving**, and being part of a **tight-knit, supportive team**.

**What You’ll Be Doing**:

- Assisting with **general maintenance**, repairs, and minor trade tasks across the club.
- Supporting groundskeeping activities, including **mowing, hedge trimming, and landscaping**.
- Keeping outdoor and indoor areas **clean, safe, and well-maintained**.
- Carrying out **minor repairs** to equipment and infrastructure as required.
- Ensuring all **Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) regulations** are followed.
- Collaborating with the **Maintenance Team** to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

**What You Need to Succeed**:
**Essential**:

- Minimum **2 years’ experience** in a similar role (maintenance, trades assistant, groundskeeping).
- Ability to perform **physical work** in all weather conditions.
- A **manual driver’s licence**.
- Knowledge of **hand and power tools** and how to use them safely.
- Strong understanding of **Workplace Health & Safety (WHS)** requirements.
- A great work ethic, **attention to detail**, and a **team-first attitude**.

**Desirable**:

- Forklift licence or additional trade-related tickets (e.g., **Working at Heights, EWP**).
- Experience in a **hospitality, sporting, or large venue maintenance** environment.
- Basic mechanical or handyman skills for **minor equipment repairs**.
- First Aid & CPR certification.
