Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a qualified veterinary technician to join the team.

The northern suburbs of Adelaide are experiencing incredible growth and expansion. Virginia Veterinary will have the ability to service both the established and emerging areas of the surrounding regions. Focusing on small animals, we aim to be able to provide care across preventive health, medicine, neonatal and geriatric health, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, radiographic and ultrasonographic imaging and more.

We are looking for a veterinary technician to join the team as we develop protocols, core values and how we want our work days to look. Alongside offering personalised care for pets and their people, we want to acknowledge the skills each team member brings to the table, creating a strong, varied staff that can support each other.

The veterinary technician we are seeking would ideally have abilities including:

- Preparing animals and instruments for surgery
- Providing general nursing care or emergency first aid
- Collecting and recording the health history of patients during face to face consultations including post operative rechecks, medical rechecks for simple ailments, nail trims, anal gland expression, weight management
- Administering and maintaining anaesthesia, including coordinating surgery order and supervising recovery
- Educating animal owners about continuing care
- Maintaining communication with clients during their pets stay in hospital
- Providing general nursing care or emergency first aid
- Reception duties only as required (making appointments, taking payments, liaising with clients)
