**About the opportunity**
NSW Health Pathology is seeking a proactive and solution-oriented Technical Officer to join our Central Specimen Reception team at Westmead Hospital - ICPMR. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional who thrives in a fast-paced laboratory environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality diagnostic services.

The Central Specimen Reception (CSR) service unit is part of the Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical research (ICPMR) in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The service unit provides 24 hour, 7 days a week service at Westmead Hospital to provide a quality, timely and efficient service to all clients of ICPMR and the surrounding West network.

**What you'll be doing**
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations
- Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff
- Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities
- Ability to participate in a 24/7 rotating shift roster including weekends, public holidays and night shifts
