Fifo Boilermaker/fabricator

IPA is growing its talent pool We are currently looking for **FIFO Boilermaker/Fabricator Welder** to fill casual roles at one of our clients across Perth regions.

**About the role**:
Supplying a maintenance service for crushing and screening operations, collaboratively through teamwork in order to achieve Safety and production expectations in line with our client’s expectations. This position involves using your skills and knowledge of best practice maintenance Boilermaking to support the ongoing maintenance and operation of a state-of-the-art crushing and screening operation.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Attending all pre-start meetings, be actively engaged while listening to and following directions given by the Supervisor
- Efficiently performing routine maintenance on Mobile and Fixed Plant equipment and tooling
- Managing the stock levels and re-ordering of steel and consumables by bringing to the Supervisor’s attention
- Reporting all faults and defects on equipment and tools that can’t be repaired immediately to the Supervisor
- Reporting all hazards, incidents, near misses and injuries events immediately to the Supervisor
- Reading and interpreting detailed design drawings
- Being able to stick weld to a high standard in all positions using low hydrogen welding rods, also capable of flux core gas and gasless mig welding
- Being able to accurately gas cut steel wearplate using a hand-held oxy acetylene cutting torch
- Performing both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks that require Boilermaker / Welder services
- Accurately fitting structural beams, braces, brackets, cleats, handrails, fitting up of grid mesh and weld out to a high standard
- Accurately preparing, welding, installing, modifying or removing steel components as per Supervisor instructions.
- Participating in risk-based assessment tools and compliance while onsite
- Engaging in business related activities or job tasks as required by the Supervisor

**Requirements for the role**:

- Exposure to extended work rosters (longer than 7 continuous days) and 12-hour shifts
- Exposure to remote work sites
- General knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety and Duty of Care responsibilities
- Exposure to risk management and hazard identification
- Worked as a Maintenance Boilermaker and preformed duties within a heavy industrial environment for at least 3 years (this period could consist of apprenticeship served time in a variety of heavy industries)
- Has a sound understanding of fabrication drawing interpretation
- Basic fit for purpose design and fabrication knowledge and principles
- Proven track record of Boilermaking experience
- Only required for Project Boilermakers - Minimum 12 months experience in a similar role within the construction industry
- Only required for Project Boilermakers - Advanced understanding of fabrication drawings
- Sound knowledge of workshop and site construction/mining procedures (desirable)
- Previous experience in a FIFO role (desirable)

**Required licencing**:

- Boilermaker / Fabricator Welder Trade Certification
- OHS Construction White Card
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space
- Gas Test atmospheres
- Fire extinguisher qualification (desirable)
- Any High-Risk Work Licences such as CN, LF, RB, RI, RA, DG, WP (desirable)
- Tele handler qualification and experience (desirable)

The successful applicants for this position must have a current Police Check, or able to obtain one. You will be required to pass Medical & DAS and complete all required inductions, both online and classroom-based trainings.
